Wait Until Dark

This show is a noir-style thriller and this production emphasized that by having everything in greyscale. I wanted to do something that would help bring the old movie feel. I created a noir jazz theme and underscores that could be placed under large periods of brooding silence. Throughout the show, I had the key change to bring a sense of tension and rising action.

This opening theme began the idea of only using three instruments; Piano, Bass, and a brush drum kit

Each instrument represented one of the three con-men. During a long opening segment where the former cop Carlino wonders the stage, I placed this very low underscore on repeat.

When the leader of the gang enters in a disguise I wanted his same theme in a subdued style

This production had various sound sources, playback, foley, music, and live onstage. I needed to organize my paperwork to reflect the different sources.
