Frankenstein

A movement piece based around just before the industrial revolution was a highlight of my work in this show. I designed an immersive system with speakers all around the proscenium in a panoramic fashion. Each of the rhythmic clangings came from different point sources to create the effect of being surrounded by a noisy factory. Sounds moved around and a deep driving sub-beat would play as the performers lurched around in time, on a turntable.

For my last show in college, I wanted to attempt something I had never done before and write out music for a live musician.

I recorded several takes and broken up takes to modulate and use throughout the show, as well as being played live. The sound of the violin became the main sonic palette for the show. I also had our violinist record dozens of single notes in as many varied ways as possible to be placed into beats during the tech rehearsal process.
